PF Mellon is a modernist variable grotesque with mixed roots.

Its unconventional aesthetic is the product of an exploration into the art of emphasizing titles, headlines and text in captivating and unpredictable ways. Contrary to conventional practices of highlighting text with heavier weights, PF Mellon proposes an intriguing new scheme based on striking and attention-grabbing compositions of narrow and extended letterforms- even when set in lowercase. Part geometric and part grotesque, PF Mellon’s expressionist alphabet and extravagant style challenge conventions of visual culture in an Art Deco-like manner.

PF Mellon’s rebellious idiosyncrasy takes its cues from the eccentric personality of our popular PF Venue, an earlier geometric sans serif characterized by its daring combinations of non-uniform structures. PF Mellon’s basic design skeleton was influenced by nineteenth and early twentieth century condensed sans serif typefaces such as Stephenson Blake’s Grotesque No.77 and ATF’s Alternate Gothic, adding an extra contrast to the thickness of strokes.

URW Dock is a contemporary geometric type family rooted in the square sans genre. Inspired by the square sans typefaces of the 60s, it is a reinterpretation and enhancement particularly designed for today’s requirements of a multipurpose font: to work excellent in print and screen environments. Including a wide range of styles, an extended character set and a careful composition, it has the ability to give brands, artworks, and interfaces a modern, professional and unique touch. Its high legibility and clear informative and technological appearance are perfectly suitable for infographics, signage and way-finding systems. TT Rounds Neue is a new modern look at the once-popular TT Rounds and TT Rounds Condensed typefaces. At some point, we realized that the old TT Rounds could no longer cope with the modern requirements for typefaces, and we decided to completely rework them.

To begin with, we corrected the visual balance between bold and thin faces and revised the proportions of the letters. We also completely redrew all the glyphs of the typeface while significantly changing the design of some of them. Thanks to this, the typeface looks more modern and can be used even in a text set. In addition, thanks to improved hinting, the typeface is well optimized for working on the web.

To the standard and condensed subfamilies, we have added a new compressed subfamily, and now TT Rounds Neue consists of three widths variations. The number of weights was increased to 9, which together with Italics equals 18 fonts in each subfamily or 54 fonts in the total, and allows to greatly expand the possibilities of using the typeface. We want to emphasize the work done on Italics—it took us nearly a year to compensate for all the circles.

In addition, now TT Rounds Neue boasts a broad support of OpenType features, which the old versions could only dream of. Now you can use ligatures, a set of alternate characters, old-style figures, and many other useful features.
